BENEVOLENT
CARE
Benevolence
... one of our eleven core values
Benevolence:
A commitment to charitable service, recognizing
that "ministry" includes helping those
in need.
Providing
charitable service to those in need is a long
established tradition at Moravian Manor. Since
opening in 1975, we have been providing health
care services to residents who cannot pay the
full cost of their care. In the five-year period
from 2001 to 2005, we provided charitable services
valued at $2.9 million to residents
who could not pay the full daily rate for needed
health care.
In
2006, we anticipate that our unreimbursed care
will exceed $900,000 to cover the significantly
higher number of residents who rely on us for
financial assistance.
It
is the intention of the Manor to provide care
and services to health center and assisted living
residents to the extent that benevolent care funds
will allow. These funds allow us to provide services
well above and beyond what the government mandates.
Benevolent
care is made possible by the generosity of Moravian
Manor's "Circle of Friends" that supports
this ministry through annual gifts, major gifts,
and planned gifts such as Charitable Gift Annuities
and bequests.
