WAYS TO HELP

  • Gift Options

You have several options from which to choose when making a gift to the Manor. By exploring all the ways available to you, you'll discover ways to help the Manor while enjoying personal and financial benefits as well. Several options will allow you to make a larger gift than you would otherwise.

  • Cash

Gifts of cash, usually in the form of a check, are generally the most popular method of giving. If you itemize deductions, cash gifts are tax deductible up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income.

  • Securities

Securities are a favored gift choice because of the double tax benefit. With a gift of appreciated securities or other assets, you can deduct the full fair market value, up to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income, and avoid or defer capital gains taxes.

  • Matching Gifts

Many corporations and businesses will match employee gifts of cash/securities up to a fixed amount. In many instances, gifts from retired employees also qualify for matching gifts.

  • Real Estate and Tangible Personal Property

Real estate and tangible personal property, also known as Gifts-In-Kind, can be donated to Moravian Manor. Because of the special considerations involved, we recommend that you contact our Director of Development to discuss your plans.

  • Bequests

A gift by bequest may be designed when writing your will or by adding a codicil to your existing will. A bequest can be a fixed amount, a percentage of your estate, or the residual value of your estate.

  • Life Insurance

Gifts of life insurance can be made by naming Moravian Manor beneficiary, contingent beneficiary, or transferring ownership of a policy to the Manor. In the latter case, you receive an income tax deduction for the cash surrender value and subsequent premiums.

  • Charitable Gift Annuities

Charitable Gift Annuities (CGAs) are a very popular choice among donors. When you make a gift in the form of a CGA, you are guaranteed an annual income for life for you or for another person. Additionally, you receive a substantial income tax deduction in the year the gift is made, and a portion of the annual income you receive is tax-free.

  • Charitable Trusts

Charitable Remainder Trusts and Charitable Lead Trusts can be established to benefit the donor, heirs, and Moravian Manor. We are available to assist you and your financial planner in your gift planning.

  • Tribute Gifts

Tribute gifts are your opportunity to recognize friends and loved ones who have touched your life in a meaningful way. Tribute gifts support our ministry of benevolence to individuals in the health center and assisted living who have exhausted their financial assets and are in need of financial help for health care and services. Tribute gifts are listed in our quarterly newsletter, the LampPost.

    • Memorial Gifts are a thoughtful way to recognize the memory of a special person. You can commemorate their life and advance the Manor's ministry at the same time. Many families name Moravian Manor as recipient of memorial gifts in lieu of flowers upon the death of a loved one.

    • Honor Gifts represent a heartfelt way to recognize someone for a special occasion or just to show you care. Mother's Day, Father's Day, birthdays, anniversaries, and other holidays are wonderful opportunities to thoughtfully acknowledge family members and friends who are a vital part of your life.

  • Funds

    • Benevolent Care Fund. Gifts to the Benevolent Care Fund help to support the Manor's charitable ministry to residents who have exhausted their financial resources and can no longer afford the cost of health care or assisted living services.

    • General Endowment Fund. Interest generated from the General Endowment Fund helps to sustain the Manor's ministry. Earned interest may be used at the discretion of the Board for the general operation of the Manor, special projects, or benevolence.

    • Restricted/Specific Purpose Gifts. Gifts to Moravian Manor may be designated for a specific purpose including items from the Special Gifts List, the Featured Gift, or other identified needs. Several items are listed in each issue of the LampPost.

    • Named Endowment Funds. Named Endowment Funds may be established for special purposes to meet the needs and support the ministry of Moravian Manor. Current endowed funds are the:

      • Elizabeth A. (Reese) Beecher Memorial Trust Fund
      • Mildred L. Bender Memorial Fund
      • Richard G. Davis Memorial Fund
      • Cynthia Jones Eastman Memorial Fund
      • Benjamin G. Forrest Memorial Fund
      • Doris A. Henly Memorial Fund
      • Paul W. McCloud Memorial Fund
      • "Poss" McCloud Memorial Fund

      • New Horizons Endowment Fund
      • Mr. and Mrs. William R. Parsil Memorial Fund
